WICKED

I've been sitting on the deck all morning reading "This Charming Man" by Marian Keyes!! Of course I'm hooked, like all her books. I can't wait to get off on this laptop and go read more! But I know my readers are waiting to hear about....WICKED!!!

FABULOUS!!! FANTASTIC!! TWO THUMBS UP!!! The play was sooooo good and FUNNY!! Glinda's character was so jolly, giggly and BLONDE that it had me giggling too! The set was quite detailed and the scenes transitions very smoothly. The characters made a few one-line references to the Wizard of Oz movie, like "there's no place like home!" that made audience cheer and laugh! Elphaba, played by the very talented Carmen Cusack (pictured below) was nothing short of amazing, and bellowed out the most boisterous lyrics from her green mouth. I was in awe of both her and Glinda's efforts. The play flowed nicely and cut out huge, dreary parts from the book, leaving the musical to be quite upbeat. The alternate ending (which I will not describe here for anyone who hasn't seen it) was the best!!! I almost had tears! I am so happy we were able to go and experience the phenomenon!!



But of course, my most favorite part of the weekend was seeing my bestest friend of all, Lindsay!! It was nice to chat, party and relax with her! I wish she was still right down the hall from me!!!

Bicycles RULE!

Last night I got the chance to have a nice bike ride!! First I rode to the library to pick up the newest Marian Keyes book, titled This Charming Man!! I haven't finished Atonement yet but I know I can't wait to get started on this one! I love all her books! Then I met two of my girlfriends and we continued riding on! We finished up the evening with a nice BBQ of cheeseburgers and zucchini! I just had to make sure I biked home before dark!

Tonight I’m staying home to clean for Lindsay’s arrival tomorrow!!! I can’t wait to have a whole weekend with my best friend and show her all around my life up here!!!!

Plants!

Everything is growing, growing, GROWING!! My Black Eyed Susan Ivy is rejuvenated!! When I went to Boston for a weekend, I was heartbroken to come home to a completely dead, dry plant. So I dead-headed it, (which I have never done it before) in hopes it would re-grow. And it did!!! It loves the full sun and grows more and more everyday!



Angel has been finally venturing out onto the deck only because he can smell the catnip growing!! He just beat up the carpet in a high-induced rage!!



And our tomato plants already have green tomatoes!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!



PLUSSSSSSS, I made myself some chicken last night with my Lemon Thyme Mom bought me! It was so delicious and fragrant!!! And so much fun to walk out onto my deck and get it fresh myself! Thanks again Mom!!!!

We had a good time for a Monday night! We went to JP Bullfeathers, Cozumel, Croc's and then to Niagara Falls!! And I still made it to work at 8am!!

BOOZE CRUISE

Yesterday I attended another Bonaventure outing for the Buffalo Alumni Chapter. For two hours we rode the Miss Buffalo “cruise ship” up and down the Niagara River!! We even went through the lock system to get back!

The open bar was good, just beer, wine and pop, but still good! There were tarps up to block the wind and rain which was nice! A lot of girls wore heels… obviously not big boat people!!

Afterwards we headed to a restaurant on the river called Shanghi Red’s! They had a band playing so we danced until they quit! It was so much fun!!!

And the best part… we get to go on it again today for work! Our own booze cruise! WOOHOO!!!

The Love Guru

Can you believe it, last night I AGAIN had free tickets for a sneak preview movie. This time it was The Love Guru with Mike Meyers!!

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how funny the movie was! Meyers played a great, jolly part. He was tranquil and joyful and funny! Justin Timberlake played a good part a canadian hockey. It was his first funny role and suited him well! Parts of the movie, as well as Meyers soothing voice reminded me frequently of Austin Powers. But that was good!! I recommend this movie for good laughs (however may not be suitable for a young age)!! OH, and I loved the small cameo by Kanye West right at the end! Gotta give him his props! lol

Stormy Friday

 
I took this picture on my way home from Buffalo Friday. Actually, I stopped about three times total to snap shots. I stayed in front of the storm the entire way to the dock. The sky on the right hand side just puts me at awe of Mother Nature...

A cluster of flowers, biking and winners

I know I haven't blogged in awhile and I have much to fill everyone in on.

1) Summer is officially here! We have all of our plants and furniture on the deck, with a lot of colorful additions. We even were able to fit our old love seat out there for added comfort! I love sitting outside in the warm air, admiring the flowers and enjoying all that I am lucky to have!






2) I can't do enough biking! I want to bike to work and everywhere else but am frequently detered by the threat of rain in the forecast. However, last Thursday Heather and I were able to take a nice long ride to Delaware Park and back. We stopped closer to home at a small italian restuarant called Romeo & Juilet's. They had the BEST flat crust pizza. We each got water and split a small pizza, leaving us only to pay $5 each! WOOHOO!



3)The best news yet - WE WON OUR FIRST SOFTBALL GAME!!! GOOO PAPAYA!

GET SMART

This movie was the best comedy I have seen in a long time! Steve Carell is not only the king hysterical in this movie, but quite a smooth at the same time. There was never a dull moment with all the action and laughs. Even Anne Hathaway was fabulous!! Anyone who wants to go and see a good movie, see Get Smart!! I give it 100 thumbs up!!!

Side note: For being a free pre-screening, I was very happy with the way things turned out. But next time we need to arrive earlier than 20 minutes. We were the last few people let in and our four-some had to split and sit two and two (rather closely to the screen). Now I will scour the every issue of Artvoice for more deals and next time will arrive with bells on!!

We're going to the movies TONIGHT!

I just got four free passes to go see Get Smart tonight at a special advance screening! All I had to do is go downtown to the Artvoice office at 10a when they opened to pick them up! They were giving them away, first come, first serve! WOOHOO!


I love free stuff! Especially when movies cost $9 now!
