All is right with the world for the next few months because Gma & Gpa are home in NY! I drove out Monday after work to have happy hour with them! And I got the BEST present when I got there! My fabulous Grandmother made me a beautiful afghan with the prettiest pink and sage colors!
Yesterday I curled up on the couch under my warm new blanket! I could barely watch TV because I found myself staring at it and admiring the stitching and all the work Grandma put into it!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH GRANDMA!!! You made my day!! I love you!!!

Sunday Fun Day!
Can you believe I got up at 8:30a on a SUNDAY!? Well I did and started to spring clean right away! I organized both closets in the living room, windex the sliding glass door in and out and washed all the dirt off the siding (I couldn't sit on the deck another day looking at it). I cleaned my room, organized my closet, packed away all winter clothes and brought out summery things! (woohoo!)
Also, I finally did I a project I wanted too. All winter I've been saving our coffee cans for a planter project I saw in a book. Today I finally sat down and painted them!
The final product:
I have Lavender planted in the one labeled Lavender obviously, then a colieus in the orange, repotted a plant in the green, and planted daisies in the yellow!!
And look, a great garage sale find from Mom! Or should I say garage SNAIL find! LOL
Then I walked to the store to buy a few things to make chicken parm tonight! I took a little backpack and my earth day grocery bag. It was a beautiful, sunny day, I knew I was fit enough, and gas is expensive! I figured, why not!? LOL

Spring has Sprung!
We have a pear tree right off our deck that is starting to bloom! It will be in it's glory soon! And hopefully the pears will be edible!
It makes me wonder how my mom's magnolia tree is doing! It's always a breathe-taking sight in the spring! My friend Heather actually just bought a house last fall, and I was looking at a tree in her front yard over the winter that I thought was a magnolia tree... and I was right! It's starting to bloom as well! And look, I even found a few tulips poking out at me!
Living in the city certainly makes me miss our country home with my mother's beautiful gardens. But I'm planning on doing some small countainer gardening on our deck this Spring. I can't wait!
Yesterday, I got out in the sun early and hit a few balls at the batting cages. Softball starts on May 7th! I'm super pumped! Then I headed over to the driving range with my clubs for the first time this year. I did surprisingly well, my driver and irons were dead on almost every time!
To stay in the sun a little while longer, I even took in the first few innings of a high school baseball game! I blended in with the crowd and cheered, and once it started to cloud over headed for the gym. The rest of my day was spent cooking a few things, and I even used my apron from Aunt Molly!
I love summer and the warm weather! I'm super depressed it's suppose to rain all week, but that will give me more of an excuse to drive out to Albion for happy hour!! I can't wait to see Grandma & Grandpa and give them big hugs!!!

Kabobs!
Wednesday night I made kabobs on the new grill! They were PHENOMENAL!! I got a 2lb London broil steak and marinaded it in a mandarin orange marinade. Then added pineapples, peppers and cherry tomatoes before grilling. I could have eaten 20 of these! A must for all you grillers!!

88 Minutes
Last night I went to the movies and saw 88 minutes with Al Pachino. I thought it was good, but not one of his best. And some parts seemed corny and a little too rehearsed. It wasn't bad and I was happy to be at the movies! And guess what... it didn't take 45 minutes to drive there either! Just right around the corner! I love the city!!

First taste of Summer!!
What a beautiful, FUN weekend! Friday started with Happy Hour @ Cozumel with friends & co-workers. We figured since it was nice out, so we'd go somewhere with an outdoor patio... well that's what everyone else was thinking too! It was packed, but fun!
Saturday started with Breakfast @ IHOP and then off to Wally World to buy a grill for our cookout!! You don't even know how pumped I was to have our own grilled burgers for diner!! This was definitely a good purchase!
Here's Jim & Wendy putting it together! Well Wendy was just an onlooker, lol!
I swear I took about 10 pictures of the grill that night! But here's me flipping the burgers for the first time!!
Oh and after the grill and before the cookout, the three of us went to Brighton Park to throw around a softball and hit at the batting cages. Softball season is right around the corner!
Around 8p us girls went to an house party/bonfire!! Here we are with, Jeff, our host!!
The best part was Jeff had his nintendo wii set up outside with a projector!! The "screen" was just a sheet on the side of his garage!! I was totally impressed!! So we played maybe 8 games of bowling!! It was sooooo much fun and I kicked everyone's butt pretty much!!
Sunday Wendy and I went to the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester! It was tons of fun, and they had some awesome collections! I loved all the dollhouses, random collections of paper weights and ink wells. I especially loved the butterfly garden! There was over 800 flying around! Wendy was freaked because they kept dive-bombing her head! HAHAHA
What a great weekend, eh? And I took those butterfly pictures myself! Awesomeness!
**Now it's Yankee time!! :o)

Does anyone want to go with me to this!?!
Kanye West, Rihanna, N.E.R.D. and Lupe Fiasco all turned in stellar sets to begin the “Glow in the Dark” Tour, what will likely end up as one of 2008’s most talked-about bills. All of Kanye’s openers were given thirty minutes to do their thing at Seattle’s KeyArena last night, and Lupe Fiasco kicked off the night with a fast-paced half-hour into which he crammed parts of eleven songs, including the hits “Kick, Push” and “Superstar.” (Matthew Santos, who sings on the latter track, appeared for three songs at the end of Fiasco’s set.) The stage was bare for his performance, but Fiasco made up for it with vibrant physical energy and a very red dress scheme shared by his backing singers and DJ.
N.E.R.D. — Pharrell Williams’ rock ensemble — played second. Fronting two drummers, a bassist/keyboardist, a synth player and guitarist (as well as a small handful of hangers-onstage who helped hype the crowd at climactic moments), Williams and co-vocalist Shay threw themselves into performances of “Lapdance,” “Brain,” “Rock Star” and “She Wants to Move” (the latter featuring a brief jam on Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust”). After the set was finished, Pharrell returned to the stage to apologize for his use of profanity in front of a young child seated in the front row.
No apologies were necessary from Rihanna, whose stage set-up included light-up speaker stacks that glowed yellow, pink and aqua. The singer and her dancers’ clothes were basic black accented by pink and lime neon; the entire presentation was very new wave, down to Rihanna’s bright pink lipstick. The show was tightly choreographed but never felt laborious, and she got some traction doing “Hate That I Love You,” a duet with Ne-Yo on record, by herself. She also introduced “Umbrella” by saying, “I remember going up to Dream” (R&B phenom The-Dream, who helped produce and write the song) “and saying, ‘If you give this record away [to someone else] I’m going to kill you.’”
The headliner took his time, playing eighteen songs in an unbroken ninety-minute set. Half of the songs came from 2007’s Graduation, five from 2005’s Late Registration and the rest from 2004’s The College Dropout. Kanye stood alone on a stage that was made out to look like a spaceship, complete with a giant video backdrop that flashed psychedelic fractal patterns, bursting stars and moonscapes. Ostensibly, Kanye was trapped aboard a rogue ship piloted by a female version, dubbed Jane, of 2001’s HAL 9000. Kanye began with “Good Morning,” then touched on “Through the Wire,” the thematically inevitable trio of “Flashing Lights,” “Spaceship,” and “All Falls Down” and hit his climax for “Hey Mama,” during which he bowed forward on his knees and delivered an emotional monologue about following one’s dreams. The song that came immediately after Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” blasting over the PA before Kanye-in-space got his strength back to deliver “Stronger.”

Baby Alligator Snapping Turtle, Florida, 1999
Photograph by George Grall
A baby alligator snapping turtle in a Florida swamp perches on the outsize skull of a record-breaking ancestor. At its largest, the monstrous reptile weighed a whopping 250 pounds (113 kilograms). With its spiked shell, beaklike jaws, and thick, scaled tail, this species is often referred to as the "dinosaur of the turtle world."

FCC!
We had our March meeting for the Food Critic's Club @ Toro, a downtown hot spot for Spanish food!
Located on Elmwood (another hip street), Toro has the same owners as another favorite restaurant of mine on Hertel, Empire Grill.
At Toro are small appetizers, so you order a few and all share. We got a bread, spread, olive plate, Chicken Spring Rolls with hot-sweet sauce and potato & cream cheese enchillada's! YUM! Every was good! And again I didn't think to take a picture until after we were done eating!!
Here we are, the FCC!
