One Year Anniversary!

Today, May 28th, is one year to the day of spending my first night in Buffalo! I have officially lived here for one year!!

So for my one year I decided I would put together a little list of how Buffalo has changed me and things I have learned. Here it goes:

1.) I no longer look for or crave Taco Bell because it’s only Mighty Taco up here people!

2.) Anytime you Mapquest anything in the city, you will have to take the 190 to get there.

3.) No matter how much you try to resist, or how many cups of coffee you have at home, you will still become one of the many waiting in line for your Tim Horton’s in the morning.

4.) We are the 2nd largest city in NY (NYC being the biggest obviously), giving us the nickname the Queen City.

5.) Not only did Buffalo Chicken Wings originate in Buffalo, so did Frank’s Hot Sauce!

6.) You can not find Loganberry outside of WNY.

Feeling unappreciated at work lately?

Worker dead at desk for five days
From the New York Times; Bosses of a publishing firm are trying to work out why no one noticed that one of their employees had been sitting dead at his desk for five days before anyone asked if he was feeling okay. George Turklebaum, 51, who had been employed as a proof-reader at a New York firm for 30 years, had a heart attack in the open-plane office he shared with 23 other workers.
He quietly passed away on Monday, but nobody noticed until Saturday morning when an officer cleaner asked why he was working during the weekend.
His boss, Elliot Wachiaski, said: “George was always the first guy in each morning and the last to leave at night, so no one found it unusual that he was in the same position all that time and didn’t say anything. He was always absorbed in his work and kept much to himself.”
A post mortem examination revealed that he had been dead for five days after suffering a coronary. George was proofreading manuscripts of medical textbooks when he died.
You may want to give your co-workers a nudge occasionally. The moral of the story: Don’t work too hard. Nobody notices anyway.

Taco Night

Last night was the 2nd annual Taco Night at our apartment! The first one coincided with our apartment warming party last year. Everyone had so much fun and kept asking when we were doing it again. Well last night was it! The food was great, the company was hysterical and we played game after game of Buzzword and Beerguy! Too bad Wendy had went to the dentist earlier and couldn't eat anything!

Thanks to everyone who came!!!

Boston Day 2 & 3

I know, I’m late with day 2 & 3! Let’s see what I can recall!

Saturday started with a HUGE omelet breakfast at a small local dive called Easter’s. The food was fantastic and how we laughed listening to the local accents! Then we were off to meet Lindsay, and head to the city! We walked all around Quincy Market and the Boston Commons. We stopped at Cheers for a beer but ended at Great Chow sushi restaurant for dinner and more beers!

Us girls sat and chatted and chatted about all our lives. How nice it is to sit and have a good girl chat after the three of us haven’t been together in a couple of years! We even convinced Lindsay and her boyfriend to stay the night and go out for drinks! Woohoo!

Sunday we headed to the beach so I could get a look-see at the coast, and then headed to Legal Sea Food for my farewell lunch! It was a delicious ending to a fabulous weekend! How nice to see old friends, laugh and catch up. I will definitely be going back soon! Thanks Anna for a great weekend!! :o)

P.S. - Aunt Molly, I saw the freedom trail!!

Boston Day 1

Last night was so much fun! Anna and I have been non-stop laughing machines! We've taken thousands of goofy pictures of ourselves!!!!!

Last night we headed to Fenway, ever hopefully the game was still on in the rain. First we stopped at Marina Bay to pick up Anna's friend Hillary. Look at the incredible view she has of downtown from her apartment!

You can't see the buildings that well because of the fog. But at night, it was gorgeous! I didn't even take a picture because I knew it wouldn't do it justice!

And yes the game was rained out but we did get to hang out in the stadium for awhile and have $8 beers and Fenway Franks!

Afterwards we headed to a bar called Game On! then went back to Hillary's apartment.

What a great first night! Today we are getting ready, then it's off to breakfast and to pick up Linzyfoshinzy!! WOOOHOO!

Grill Packets

You have to try this delicious, easy dinner! Just lay down a piece of tinfoil, add a marinaded chicken breast, carrots, broccoli (onions if you'd like) and a small butter pad. Grill for 10 minutes on both sides and BINGO, you've got yourself a healthy, tasty meal!

I even took the easy way for the marinade! I bought a packet of mesquite flavoring that only required water & oil. Let chicken sit for 15 minutes! Go me! :o)

Camper's Tinfoil Dinners

1 roll tinfoil
1 potato cubed
2 carrots chopped
1 small onion chopped (I used broccoli)
Camper's favorite meat

Take a 12-inch piece of tinfoil and lay on the table. Place potatoes, carrots, onion and the camper's choice of meat on the tinfoil. Add a small amount of butter or oil to help the ingredients cook and prevent sticking to the foil. Cover with another piece of tinfoil and wrap into a small package. Place foil on the grill, flipping every ten minutes. Check progress after 20 minutes to see if meat and vegetables are thoroughly cooked.

Creative Knitting

My cousin Lisa is one heck of a knitter! Look at this creative pin cushion! A birds next with two bluebird eggs! I LOVE IT!!

Salmon Dinner!

Tonight Heather made us a very flavorful meal! Not one did she make Salmon, potatoes, corn on the cob AND a veggie mix... but she did three Salmon pieces, three different ways! One was a fantastic Teriyaki glaze, the second a lemon herb and the final a ginger sauce. All three were meal in your mouth with taste! It was restaurant quality! Two thumbs up! :o)
